[ The pain of being rescued was as if he were being drowned again,

   which felt as if it lasted hours, days…
          And yet, in the blink of an eye, he’s in a hospital bed.
                                                                              Waking up.

                                            One month later;

                                                     Slowly, he comes to. Disorientated.
                                                     Hazy eyes blink. A blurry surrounding. ]

                                                     “Wh… Where…”

[ Unaware of his state, he tries to move, finding the motion to be
 of tremendous difficulty. In trying to adjust himself, he presses
 the call-nurse button. They arrive in short time, notifying the
 doctors, as well as the authorities. ]

[ In a matter of minutes, she’d be on the scene, black boots practically slamming against the tiled floor. Upon arriving at the hospital with him a few weeks back and hearing that he was comatose, she’d asked to be notified whenever (or if, a small voice had nagged at the back of her mind) he woke up.

After a few minutes of watching the nurses fuss over him and gently prop him upright, she’s finally left alone with him. Blue eyes fix on his face – sunken and worn. The mark of a weary man. ] 

                “– Mr. Sunderland. I’m glad to see you’re okay.”

[ She waits for a small sign of recognition on his face, some indication that he remembers her. Finding none, she continues. ]

           "My name’s Cybil Bennett. I’m a police officer.
                            I was the one that… found you.“
