First his limbs twitch and spasm. Oxygen finally
reaches him, as his lungs expel the water.
James coughs, body jumping as life is returned to him.
Against his wishes, existence is restored.
He catches a glimpse of her face. He mouths the name;
“Mary.”
By instinct, he’s turned over,
heaving up the rest of the water. ]
[ She can’t help but jolt in surprise once he moves, the jerky motion startling her more than her success in reviving him. Instinctively, she places a hand on his back to steady him, waiting for him to clear his lungs. ]
“Take your time, sir.
